Malls, malls, malls and mals every where. A mall here and a multiplex there and a hang out every where. But are there enough takers???

We are witnessing the mushrooming of the malls and commercial complexes in and around Delhi. Has any one ever wondered whether do we need so many of commercial malls or movie theatres or malls ??? Government or Authorities like DDA are just trying to make more and more money by just auctioning plots and land for only commercial complexes and malls.

No one has ever given it a thought that over the past few years there has been no development in the infrastructure in the city. Commercials complexes are constructed without even giving a thought to important issues such as parking or electricity.

These commercial complexes are of no good to the common man. Agreed that there should be enogh shops, offices etc to transact business and there should be place for entertainment but constructing multiplexes without there chances of their getting fully occuppied is not justified.

Taking a look at the so called multiplexes around the city, one might come to know that there is very less occupancy and foot-falls in these malls. Few malls in Gurgaon and Noida can boast about good foot falls but still the shop-keepers or the stores in those very malls are not doing good business. And yet we see so many malls being built on ever nook and corner of the city.

No good government aided or funded hospitals, colleges, schools have been made in the recent past. The poppulation of the city is increasing day by day due to increased immigration and still the number of colleges, hospitals etc are the same as they used to be few years ago( barring a marginal increase).

There has been a dearth of good colleges in Delhi and the students have a tough seeking admission to colleges as there are not enough seats for them. So should goverment concentrate of making shopping malls or try to provide basic amenities and built infrastructure.

Goverment should think judiciously whether we need colleges and hospitals or malls ??
