Next morning, when you wake up and look at your copy of Economic Times or Financial Express…………. Don’t be surprised if Indian Conglomerates is in the rat race of M&A and buying some division of a fortune 500 company. Old records are broken and we are setting new heights in this marathon. Biggest all time overseas acquisition is coming into picture. We are crazy about M&A and the best part of it is that all the sellers in the market are taking us seriously.
If we look at the present scenario, India Inc is on a buying spree and we are acquiring stakes in global companies at a much faster pace. Indian companies are concentrating on global market rather than sticking to our own country.
Merger and Acquisition is the talk of the day ………….. Be it Power, Hotel, Telecom, Retail, Steel, Pharma and what not! So can we say that “Indian companies are now Globalâ€.The answer to this question is Undoubtedly, “yes we are………..â€
Where do we see ourselves twenty years down the lane? Someone very rightly said “3rd richest economy in the worldâ€. But have we done our homework and ground work in that regard?????
The country’s industrial growth shot up to 14.4 per cent in November 2006, the fastest in more than a decade, on the back of impressive performance of manufacturing sector and a rebound in mining production. According to the estimates of the Investment Commission, India needs $ 1.5 trillion Capital Investment over the next five years to maintain 8 per cent growth.
This a great comeback in manufacturing sector in which we were lagging much behind. I think we are through with the fieldwork and just don’t want this opportunity to go in vain. But in order to maintain this sustaining growth lot of concentration needs to be paid on our infrastructure and technology. We need to strengthen our infrastructure and logistics so that more and more foreign Investment is done in India.
So don’t be taken aback when one fine morning you pick up the same newspaper but with a different headlines, which goes like ……â€India emerges as the third richest economy in the world.â€
May the dream come true.
