Sir,

Its really heartening to see a CA who is fully satisfied with his educational qualification and is proud of it. That makes the two of us.

Would like to add one more thing that a CA degree equips u with…and that is the STAMINA and APPETITE for work. Since we ( people who did their articleship with college) started very early ( at 19 years of age) we got used to put in tht extra efort and hardwork in what ever we do whc provides us with an edge over the other.

And yeah!! shall be waiting for your next post…why u chose to do MBA..

Hi Vivek & Madhur,

It’s all the same here and I feel really honoured to add the two letters,’CA’ before my name. The curriculum is so comprehensive that our Institute wants us to be master in all the fields.

Let me start from Accounts – Accounts being the core subject for a Chartered Accountant, it gives an in-depth knowledge of everything from journal entry to Amalgamation, Consolidation, Electricity Co, Insurance Co and what not. Just to add on the study material is now updated with USGAAP and IFRS. New generation CA’s will definitely have a good deal of Knowledge about international practice. When it comes to MAFA, CA institute does not leave any stone unturned to bring us at par with MBA’s. It covers everything from NPV, IRR, to M & A, and Valuations. Next is Audit – apart from being an Accountant this is another area where CA’s has got dominance. The fourth paper makes us an expert in corporate law and it is needless to say anything about direct and indirect tax (always said by prospective CA’s – TAX ek taraf baaki saare papers ek taraf).Costing paper is at par with the one tackled by Cost Accountant and MICS gives us a brief knowledge of system and technology.

The crux of the entire write up is that, a Chartered Accountant is a combo pack having an in-depth knowledge at par with Cost Accountant, MBA’s, Lawyer, TAX Consultant……… (isse sasta aur achha kaha milega).

But still MBA’s gives us an edge in sift skills. This is something where we need to work. I hope next article by Vivek will highlight on this area.

Great work done Vivek. Keep posting

Proud to be a Chartered Accountant.

hi guys,,
let me jump into this hot topic…Well, i agree with all of u guys giving positive quotes about the Value(which indeed is invaluable) of our profession.
The thing only lacks into our profession wat i believe is the practical exposure. I mean keeping the big guns apart, and the other top 10 or 20 firms,,its really not possible for everybody to get a gud gun(firm). What i feel that most of the average firms really exploit the candidates. They dont keep the articles onto a rotation policy. Watever the candidate has done in the fst year of articleship, he will only be doing those audits/work. In that way there is no add to value of the article. Therefore, i feel that if we can evolve a system of rotation in those 3 years of articleship into a variety of areas like tax, stat audit, internals, banks etc.. we really can make the difference. Else as generally , the studs will hav to go through the same repeatitive work.
Give me a reply back. What you guys say it.
Proud to be a Chartered Accountant.
