Blogging is going to be the next big thing according to Mr Sabeer Bhatia, the man behind Hotmail. He says “Blogging is here to stay”. Statistics say there are as many as 70 million bloggs worlwide out of which around 1 million are in India, 7 million in China and Japan and surprisingly 20 million in Korea. Blogging is getting ubiquotous.
But what exactly is a blog…???
According to the Oxford Dictionary, a blog is an internet site having articles, write-ups or assortment items of interests to its author. Bloging started in the year 1997. Blogg can also be seen as a web diary with articles or write-ups arranged in reverse chronological order and inviting comments from the readers too.
Today millions of readers share their views and ideas on the internet through the millions of blogg sites and social networking sites that can be read by anyone with access to internet. There is a blogg for everyone. There is a blogg on freinship, community, religion, common interests and hobbies, stocks and shares, adult content, politics, medicine, like minded people…etc. You name it and you get it. It has come as a new way of internet socialising and expression of the self.
Many blogs are so influential that they have become an alternate to the news coverage of events. Almost every portal nowadays have a blogging section of its. In US existent are many political blogs which are known to have the capabilty to influence the voters. Even journalists and politicians are known to have been following the blogs to keep a track of the public opinion. Even Forum4CA we have featured many interesting articles on MCD demolitions, Bush’s visit to India, arbitration, SMSs, Financial issues, Budget, Tax related matters, terrorism, time management etc. There are other blogs like www.Indiaproactive.com which features India centric issues.
The business world too havnt been aloof from the blogging bug. The corporates too have realised the power of blogging much sooner than later. They have realised that bloggin can be utilised as a tool for marketing to increase the brand presence, solidify the brand image and to capture the customer feedback. Another example of the use of blogging can be cited in the travellers blogg where the bloggers give a first hand account of a particular tourist locations, hotels, night spots etc and these travel blogs have links to established travel websites which help them in generating business.
Then on top of that bloggin has come accross as a new-gen hobby. There are people who have created bloggs becuase they just like to talk. Blogging is increasing as a hobby amoung people who are little shy and recluse as they feel empowered on the web. So blogging is getting popular amonst the extrovert as well as introverts. The young and the happening are spending considerable time on blogging. They are increasingly socialising on the internet where they post personal messgaes, pictures, interestes, moods, or daily accounts of their day to day life. This young generation of today is known to spend more time with their freinds in the cyberspace than in person.
Another reason to blog is an urge to communicate and express yourself. It gives you that power to tell whats on your mind and most importantly a platform where you can put your views forward and you know people are reading it and commenting on it. Blogging is truly the next big thing and every one is making a dip into the blogosphere.
If you havn’t yet made your dip then here is the time for you to experience this phenomenon. Come join us – join forum4ca and feel free to express yourself.
